UPDATE:

Old post:
Hello, again.  Here's an album that I picked up about 9 years ago.  I thought it might not turn up on CD and I wasn't disappointed.  It's Lorne Greene's "Have a Happy Holiday" from 1965.  It's just the kind of Christmas album I love - songs & stories.  They don't make 'em like this any more.  Hope you enjoy it!

New comment - 12/13/06:

I didn't mean to dredge this one up from so far back, but someone sent me an e-mail requesting it.  I sent the link back to her directly, but also promised to post it here.  Hope anyone that missed it last year will get the chance to pick it up.

Thanks for the share, Shemp!

Last year, someone posted a link to their website where they had shared out a whole collection of Christmas-themed radio spots that Lorne Greene had done.  I don't remember the link, though. (Found it!) And there's always the Christmas At The Ponderosa record that would make a great partner with your record on a CD.  Smiley

Thanks for reposting the "Spirit Of Christmas" with Lorne Greene!

Now I can finish downloading it where I left off last year!

In case you folks don't have enough Lorne Greene in your diet yet, I found yet another gem today.  It's a single featuring Lorne Greene doing his version of Must Be Santa, and a short narrative called One Solitary life very similar to the Spirit of Christmas radio spots mentioned above.  Both sides are really great.  Check it out over at Ernie (Not Bert)!

Some nice arrangements in that Lorne Green L.P.

It's a shame that it's topped with his "singing".

I love his singing.  It's very appropriate, somehow.  I love his take on Christmas Is A-comin', especially when he gets to the end.  It suddenly becomes apparent to me that he's not taking himself seriously, unlike many of those other celebrity vocal LPs.

If you re-read the first post in this topic, it gives an updated link (12/13/06) to the file from last year and explains why it's relisted here.  It's all in the spirit of sharing and spreading the holiday goodwill and joy.

I don't mean to respond to my own post, but I just wanted to move it up the board a little for those who may not have the time to scour around for it.

Great timing on this re-share.  I threw up my copy of Lorne's single again today.  He sings Must Be Santa.  Great stuff.
