12-5-2006 Partridge In A Pear Tree by The Baja Marimba Band

h1 December 5th, 2006

Let’s get instrumental for a bit.  I can say with a fair amount of certainty that this is the Baja Marimba Band is probably the only act to record both a Christmas song AND the Theme to Deep Throat….

This track is part of 1968 compilation from Herb Alpert’s A&M records (he contributes several tracks that can be found on his own Christmas album).  The track originally appeared on another LP by the band called "For Animals Only" which had various songs about animals–gotta love those theme albums.

Well, we’re glad it got rereleased for Christmastime.  The song starts out with a sweet ringing glockenspiel, moves into a slow Now Sound groove and then grows to full choral/orchestral magnificence.  Not a bad trajectory.

  1. Oh my gosh!  I can’t believe any of this album is available for download.  Do you have any idea how long I have looked for this?  Please. PLEASE!  If I beg enough, can you make one of the other tracks available for download?  I’m desperate for "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" from side 2 of this record.  Thank you so much!
