There’s a whole genre of Space Age Christmas songs/albums. For generations born after men landed on the moon it’s hard to imagine the space fever that Sputnik and the space race engendered across America. And of course the space fever spread to Christmas….
My good friend CaptainOT found this one for us and I’m not sure why it’s taken me this long to share it.
It’s a 1956 EP from “Lawrence Welk’s Little Band†(which, I guess, differentiates it from a “big bandâ€) and features The Lennon Sisters. The arrangement may come as a surprise to those who haven’t heard some of Welk’s more adventurous work.
