12/01/2009 – Deck The Halls by Tijuana Voices
December 1st, 2009
Ho, ho, ho and off we go!
This is the first track from our 6th annual musical Advent calendar, known as the ADVENTure in Carols.
Each day between now and Christmas day we’ll be posting a song for you to download and enjoy. Then as a special Christmas present you’ll get CD artwork (a cover, booklet, tray insert, etc.) so you can have your very own Christmas compilation. So come back each day to get the new song (or you can just wait until the 25th and download everything as one big package…).
From the early 60’s into the early 70’s there was a string of Tijuana Christmas releases. They all borrow heavily from the sound pioneered by the great Herb Alpert and his classic Christmas album. And they all have a relaxed and breezy approach to the tunes, dominated by trumpets and a Latin influenced backbeat. I shared a couple of these previously (see here).
This great collection (brought to us from our good friend Ernie) adds some great vocal arrangements. This is great early 70’s breezy EZ pop music.
And, of course, the first song on the ADVENTure in Carols must be a version of Deck The Halls.
And be sure to come back each day between now and Christmas to get a new free song download. And then show up on Christmas for the full CD booklet/artwork.

FaLaLaLaLa-La-La-La-La to you, too, King!
