THOUGHTS FROM THE KING:

If you were around last Christmas then you have heard at least one track from this album. Track 1 of this album ended up on the 2005 ADVENTure In Carols. If that track didn’t give you enough Teutonic holiday goodness, then you’ll go gaga for this!. The arrangements are appropriately cheery, with a little bit of “funk” (broadly defined–awesome walking basslines and groovin’ drumming) thrown into the mix. And I think it’s great. The singing is top-notch, the arrangements move, etc. But the German accents just make everything feel a little strange. Certain words and phrases just don’t quite work because the singers just don’t wrap their voices around the phonemes. Maybe that’s being picky. Maybe it’s the warm summer weather that makes it hard for me to feel the full effect of the Christmas spirit (you all know by now I’m not much of one for Christmas in summer). So hopefully this little gem will get you in the spirit and looking forward to the Christmas season here at FaLaLaLaLa. June 25, 2006 P.S. I wouldn’t expect much for “Christmas In July” around here. Me, the missus, and the wee bairn are moving to a new house in July and I can’t guarantee access to my vinyl collection…. I’m sure some of my friends here (Cap’n, orb1234, etc.) will have some stuff to throw your way.

  1. I wish I could download it, but I’m limited to a dialup modem and am unable to. I wish I could afford a high speed system but even though it has been recently made available where I live, I can’t afford it right now (I lost my job a month ago and am desperately trying to be hired again). Maybe someone might be willing and able to burn them to CD for me? That would be outstanding.

  2. i really have no words to thank. i was desperate for this album. when i was young i grown up listing to this lovely christmas carol on casettes. but after the casette got fungus i didnt do much but had to throw the casette. i was very young and didnt knew much about music nor did i have the cover page of the album. then one day when i went to a church store there i saw a casettee which had all this carol medley, i was so happy that i immediately bought the album. then again some years later because of rain we had to throw most of my music and this was one of them. i was very sad. then i kept on looking for this album in different stores but couldnt find it. after years today when i was browsing through google, i was trying my level best to get the songs and its by god’s grace today i am so very happy. i finally found my memories. this is my best christmas album ever. may the good lord bless each and everyone who is the part of this album and the one who featured the songs on this site. god bless u abundantly!!!!!!!!!!

  3. WHAAAAT? I simply cannot believe this! Gunter Kallmann’s Singalong available as a free download? Crikey! Do you guys know how long I have combed this earth looking for this rare piece of Chrismas magic? WOW! This is sooooo fantastic, my Christmas begins right now. A zillion thanks, guys, and God bless you lots. Like many others, I grew up in the early 70′s with these tracks as an major part of every Christmas. Somehow, our one tape kept depreciating till it vanished altogether. Ever since, I’ve been scouring the world seeking a replacement to introduce to my kids. Being chips off the old block, I’m sure they’ll just lurve it! To me, no other album creates the Christmas atmosphere like this one does. Just remember, though, that JESUS is the reason for the season, and may He richly bless y’all with Goodness and Mercy, now and forever. Amen.

  4. Stupefied. Amazed. Blown-away. Ecstatic. How does one find the words to describe the rawest of emotions that surge through when finding an album like this after 25+ years. How do I say thank  you ? God Bless You guys.
This is THE Christmas album of my childhood. The music to which I visualized being marshmallows roasting on an open fire, the flicker of flames, that magical sound of sleigh-bells.
Thanks guys for bringing back some very very special memories. May you be blessed many times over and I do hope that others rediscover the simple yet timeless magic of the Gunter Kallman Choir and that superb, magical ting-a-ling of bells at the end of the first song.

  5. I spent several Christmases looking for this album, especially “December Dream” and I couldn’t believe it when I saw the page with the download button. It’s like you guys are Santa! I’m so happy I found you :) Every year I make it a point to add a special new album to my collection and even though this isn’t new, it’s one of, if not the most precious of the lot! I appreciate it so much, thank you and the Merriest of Christmases to you and your family from Asia!

  6. Kudos King!! This is awesome, I almost had this album shipped from UK as it was the only place I could find this online for purchase. You would’nt believe how happy I was when I saw the album for download. I’ve seen the comments above, and its true………this was the VERY album I grew up listening every christmas ….one after another. It makes me think about home and childhood. I have no words to thank you. You made my day. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

  7. You have no idea how happy I am that I stumbled on this web page. I was just about ready to sell my body for it. I have looked for this record for ages. Christmas is just that little bit more special with it. As a child I remember waking up to this music, it meant it was finally Christmas day.Thank You, Thank You, Thank you!!!!!!!

  8. This album is much older than I am, and still it reminds me of Christmas as a young child. Old cartoons used real Christmas themes like this. Thank you so much! What a great and noble thing to post this album here. If there’s anything you need from the Dominican Republic, please let me know. Bless you!

  9. Oh, my, how happy I was to find this site. For 30 years I have been waiting to get a copy of this album. It is the one album that opens our Christmas season and we play it over and over again.
I cannot download, it though. The download link goes to a travel website. Can someone please share their album with me? My e-mail is billromero@aol.com.
Thanks a million and God bless you all!

  10. I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you for making this available – I have it on vinyl and cassette … but I don’t own a record player anymore (been a nomad too long!) and my only cassette player is in the car!  …And I’ve long been worried that these formats wouldn’t be strong enough to stand the test of time! And what a joy to read about other people who have similarly strong feelings and good memories evoked by this album …if any of you live in central / south-west London, let me know – we’ll take the album to a Christmas party, tie up the DJ, put it on loud, and swap reminiscences!!May God bless you … and my wonderful family, who have provided the good times that this album reminds me of!

  11. I cannot even begin to describe my feelings right now!
i have been listening to the gunter Kallmann record as far as i can remember .. it’s been around in our family even before my older sister was born  ..

i cannot imagine Xmas without it ..

though the record is still as good as it always was ..
i’ve been searching for this CD for the last few years and i never imagined it would be this simple ….

I am going to cut CDs and send them to my sisters & to my parents  ..
