Hollyridge Strings “Christmas Favorites” on CD!

h1 September 21st, 2008

Our long national nightmare is over!

The powers that be have finally realized that the greatest Christmas album of all time has been languishing in a vault in California.

Collector’s Choice Music is releasing Stu Phillips’ holiday masterpiece this year.  I’ve seen various reports regarding a release date, from October to November.  But the listing is live on their site now and seems to be ready to ship.

You can bet that we’ll be talking about and promoting this CD all season.  This is one of my absolute favorite Christmas records and I’m really psyched that it may finally find the wider audience it deserves.

Stay tuned for more info….

UPDATE (9/22/08: Just got an email from Stu Phillips.  We may be doing some promotion of the CD here.  Maybe a contest.  Maybe an interview.  Maybe more….

  1. Hmm…that listing is pretty bare bones, however promising. I’m waiting for the official write up/announcement in a forthcoming Collectors’ Choice Music catalog or e-mail newsletter. Here’s hoping it’s a doozy! I can’t wait! The suspense of these next few months is almost too great to bear! I want to safely place my preorder ASAP! But not yet…

  2. Our long national nightmare? I don’t think that will be over until the entire Three Suns Christmas catalog is out on CD!

  3. Ernie! I’d love the entire Three Suns Christmas catalog on CD. I’d even go so far as to state that the long national nightmare won’t be over until Eddie Dunstedter’s Christmas album trilogy, “The Bells of Christmas,” “The Bells of Christmas Chime Again,” and “Christmas Candy,” are finally unleashed from the vaults. The Christmas organ never sounded so good!

  4. Well, if we’re making wishes this political season, how about that Christmas LP from Al Caiola & Riz Ortolani? And Earl Grant? Maybe Ira Ironstrings? Oh, wait, that one is on CD. Nevermind…

  5. I think whoever can mail in the most vinyl copies of the LP should get a copy on CD! How’s that for a contest?

  6. Great news, King! I’m guessing employees of FLLLL, their families, and contributors aren’t eligible for this contest…

    =Slaps on blonde wig=

Ja, my name is Bjorn and I come from Sweden…

  7. Am I mistaken, or does the listing at the CCM website say “Hollyrdige Strings”? That’s gonna make it a tough sell.

  8. I wondered why it didn’t come up in an artist search but did in a title search. We’ll have to let them know.

I just ordered mine from DeepDiscount.com (for $10.98 including shipping).

  9. “The Music Of Christmas” from the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra is also being (re) released on CD. What a year.

  10. Got mine today! It’s great!
