R.I.P. Merv Griffin
Sunday, August 12th, 2007

So the one and only Merv Griffin succumbed to prostate cancer today at the age of 82.
He was basically a one-man media/entertainment empire (before there was an Oprah…). There was his talk show and producing game shows (Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, etc.), but lots of people don’t realize how musical he was.
He started out as a singer in Freddy Martin’s band (at the Coconut Grove, no less) and composed the themes for both Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Here is a bit of Christmas music from him, care of our friend Lee at Music You (Possibly) Won’t Hear Anyplace Else.
