The fire is so delightful...

If you’re looking for some festive ambience for your Christmas Day celebration, look no further than the original classic WPIX Yule Log.

Sure, there are many imitations, but this is the real deal, and the soundtrack is just the kind of classic holiday fare we love here at FaLaLaLaLa!  I’ve got my TiVo all set to record it to watch tomorrow.

Take a breather with Holiday Bonus

h1 Saturday, November 28th, 2009

So have you finally dropped from all of that Black Friday/Saturday shopping? Need to turn off your brain for awhile but you’re all out of EggNog? Spend some time playing a nice easy game of Holiday Bonus.

It’s a really straightforward Christmas-themed 3-in-a-row game. Nothing new or exciting, but it can be just the right way to spend some down time during the holidays. We love it at our house.

And a $7 download is not a bad deal either….

Ernie’s Christmas In July 2009

h1 Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Here it is, summertime in the good ol’ U.S. of A.  And while most of the country is thinking barbecues and fireworks, folks around these parts think of tinsel and Christmas carols.  It must be Christmas in July!

Now, it’s relatively well-known to FaLaLaLaLa stalwarts that I’m not a big Christmas-in-the-summer kind of guy and don’t really do much around here in July.  I have taken in past years to throwing up some music for Christmas-and-a-Half (June 25th), but this year I didn’t even manage that.

Regardless of my seasonal Scrooge-itude, you have plenty of opportunity to indulge in your mid-year Christmas celebrations.  I direct you, therefore, to the blog of our good friend and reliable source of holiday musical cheer, Ernie, and his Christmas In July.

During July, Ernie posts some new Christmas music every day.  Most of these are Christmas tracks culled from non-Christmas albums.  He knows how to find some real gems and I highly encourage you to head over to his blog every day for some new holiday tunes.  I know I’ll be checking out all his tunes (though I’ll save them and wait until Christmas time to listen).

Santa’s Working Overtime

h1 Saturday, December 13th, 2008

There’s a lot more free music and Christmas joy across the internet.  I don’t follow all of it, and I’m not much into a lot of the newer Christmas music.

But if that’s something you’re into, I highly suggest adding the feed from Santa’s Working Overtime to your RSS reader.

Our good friend Dinsdale Kringle really does work overtime scouring the net for free Christmas music, stories, songs, videos and general holiday fun.  Tell him The King sent you.

Jon Solomon’s 20th on WPRB

h1 Monday, December 24th, 2007

Anybody who has been around here all season probably has enough Christmas music to last them through NEXT Christmas (or maybe even 2010!).  So you have lots to listen to during your celebrations.

But to me the greatest aspect of this site is the ability to connect with other people who love Christmas music.  We talk and we share and we laugh.  It’s a great community and it’s not because of the music, it’s because of the people and the personal connections.

Jon SolomonSo, one of the great people around here is our friend, Jon Solomon.  He’s been hosting a 24-hour Christmas marathon on WPRB in Princeton, NJ for 20 years.  He goes on at 6PM tonight (Christmas Eve) and drags himself home tomorrow at 6PM.  In between he plays TONS of great and unusual Christmas music.  Also, our other good friend Mitch Kezin will be there filming for Jingle Bell Rocks, so it’ll be a big part if we’re all listening!

So please tune in (which you can do through online streaming) and connect with a great person, and know that lots of others are listening to him too.  This makes our connection to the music and to each other that much stronger.

Also, do like I’ve done for the past several years and give Jon a call, especially during the graveyard shift when he gets kind of spacey and needs help staying up (I kid! I kid!).
